Wednesday's Assignment
Today you will be constructing a timeline of major events on the Vietnam War. The timeline begins with the United States' involvement in the conflict that began as a civil war in the country of Vietnam between the Northern and Southern parts of the country.
In your timeline, you will be asked to insert a map of Vietnam (blank map from class handout) and label the following:
In addition to dates that need to be placed on the timeline, you will be expected to elaborate on a number of people and events (additional information on Wikipedia) and their involvement in the Vietnam War (please limit summaries to 1-2 sentences). The following list is of the required people/events, please feel free (if you have time) to add additional items.

- The Countries of - Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, and China
- The South China Sea
- Hanoi
- Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon)
- The Gulf of Tonkin
- The Border between North and South Vietnam

- Students must take the list of 10 people and events from above and define with a minimum of three sentences for each. The list must be put in chronological order.
- Students must also take a copy of the blank and complete independently.

- Complete the Anticipatory Set upon entering class, due at the end of class today.
- We Were Soldiers video excerpts - final battle scene, taxi driver, delivery to wife; intro video
Activity:
Choose a song in the link below and complete checkpoint #1 after choosing and listening to a song.

Checkpoint #1
After completing checkpoint #1, complete the following:
- After listening to your song, read the lyrics to your song by finding them on this Google Doc.
- Using either the pictures provided below or some that you find in a Google search for "Vietnam War" or "Vietnam War Protests", create a three frame storyboard that uses the pictures and three quotes from the song that tell a story about how the artist(s) of your chosen song felt about the Vietnam War.
- In your storyboard use the quotes to match with a picture you have selected - there should be 3 quotes and 3 pictures.
- Between the images, write sentences connecting them.
- See sample outline for today's project at bottom of the page.
- If you get through with some extra time, try out the bonus.
